PAL is a Committee of the Lincoln PTSA
Lincoln High School will open in the Fall of 2019! The PTSA organization includes a group of parents and volunteers who want to ensure that Lincoln continues in the Seattle tradition of offering a rich music program for its students. We have formed the Performing Arts for Lincoln committee.
While the Seattle School District budget for Lincoln contains critical support for the music program, it will not be enough to get the program off to its best start, and we are seeking donations to support the LHS music and theater programs. To be prepared for the September 2019 opening, PAL is moving rapidly to acquire support. We have developed cost estimates of items for which we seek funding:
Performing Arts Center Improvements - $245,000. Examples of needed items include:
The Lincoln Music Program - $121,000. Examples of needed items include:
We also hope to raise money for the PAL general fund, which will allow us to make additional instrument purchases and contribute to year one expenses for scholarships, competition trips, and more.
In order to have these improvements and equipment ready for the start of school in September 2019, we are seeking funds by June of 2019. Some items, such as band uniforms, are custom made and require several months to produce.
We are developing a fundraising campaign that targets incoming parents, local businesses, and other important stakeholders and working in collaboration with PTSA leadership. We will be using direct appeal to raise funds, and events designed to begin building a group of parents and stakeholders who can help sustain and grow this program over time.
With the support of friends and community members like yourself, the Lincoln High School music and theater programs can reach their full potential and offer the same opportunities as other comprehensive high schools in the area including Roosevelt and Ballard. Students need exposure to music and the arts to receive a well-rounded education. Strong music and drama programs are also a way for students to connect with each other and the communities in which they live.
Current Fundraising Initiatives
There will be multiple ways to get involved and support the Lincoln music and theater programs. Here are some of the events and activities currently planned.
Direct Appeal for Marching Band Uniforms
Our marching band students want to be able to show their school spirit but each uniform costs nearly $500, which quickly adds up to over $87K when buying for 175 students in the first year. Moreover, they need to be put on order by April in order to make it in time for the start of school and football season. So, we are asking families, local businesses, and alumni to help with a financial contribution so that our students can represent LHS with pride. Learn more at the GoFundMe page
